Early Life and Education
Jones grew up in the Oakland City neighborhood of Southwest Atlanta, Georgia. At the age of two, his father left the family, leaving his mother to raise him and his two sisters. He made the decision to drop out of Booker T. Washington High School in ninth grade and turned to drug dealing.
By early 2012, he faced charges for possession with intent to sell, along with other offenses. The following year, he was charged with possession of marijuana of less than an ounce. In 2014, he was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to sell, resulting in a two-year incarceration.

At seventeen, Lil Baby, a former drug dealer, was urged by Quality Control Records founder, Kevin “Coach K” Lee to pursue rap due to his natural talent and respect in Atlanta. Mentored by Young Thug and Gunna, he released mixtapes like Perfect Timing, Harder Than Hard, 2 The Hard Way (with Marlo), and Too Hard.
