Ellen DeGeneres , born January 26, 1958, is an American comedian, actress, TV host, writer, and producer. Rising from stand-up in the 1980s after a 1986 Tonight Show appearance, she starred in the sitcoms Ellen and The Ellen Show. She hosted The Ellen DeGeneres Show from 2003–2022, winning 33 Daytime Emmys. After 2021 workplace-bullying allegations and investigations, the show ended and she retired from show business in 2024.

DeGeneres publicly came out as a lesbian in 1997. She dated actress Anne Heche from 1997 to 2000 and Alexandra Hedison from 2001 to 2004, and married Portia de Rossi on August 16, 2008.
