Diamond Platnumz, born Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack on October 2, 1989, in the modest neighborhood of Tandale, Dar es Salaam, is Tanzanian music’s biggest global export. He’s a singer, dancer, and businessman whose smooth blend of Bongo Flava, Afro-pop, and Afrobeats has packed stadiums across Africa and beyond.

Before Fame
Diamond didn’t start with silver spoons. He grew up poor in Tandale, and at 17 he was selling second-hand clothes, pumping gas, and snapping cover photos just to afford studio time.
He even sold his mother’s gold ring to record his first song. That early single, “Toka Mwanzo” (2006), flopped, but it lit the fire that would eventually burn bright across the continent.
Career
Everything changed in 2010 when “Kamwambie” dropped. The track won multiple Tanzania Music Awards and launched his debut album of the same name. He kept the momentum going with Lala Salama (2012) and the fan-favorite A Boy From Tandale (2018), landing collaborations with Ne-Yo, Omarion, and Tiwa Savage.

His 2022 EP First Of All brought the banger “Waah,” and 2025 saw fresh heat with “Nani,” “Msumari,” “Down,” and the My Darling EP. Diamond made history as the first Africa-based artist to hit 1 billion YouTube views, he now sits at 11 million subscribers and 3.4 billion total views.
Behind the music, he’s CEO of WCB Wasafi, Wasafi Media, Wasafi FM, and Wasafi Bet, building an empire beyond the stage.

Trivia
Diamond was the first sub-Saharan artist to hit 1 billion YouTube views and the first Tanzanian signed to Sony Music. He’s took home 17 Tanzania Music Awards and 3 MTV EMAs. In 2026, Tanzania even officially registered his dopplegangers as certified artists.
Family Life
Diamond married fellow Tanzanian star Zuchu in a private traditional Muslim ceremony on June 1, 2025, after years of an on-and-off romance.
He’s a father to four children: Princess Tiffah and Prince Nillan with Zari Hassan, Dylan with Hamisa Mobetto, and Naseeb Junior with Tanasha Donna. Diamond has been open that some kids may not be biologically his but said he still cares for them all.

Net Worth
Diamond’s net worth sits around $7–10 million, ranking him among Africa’s wealthiest musicians. His YouTube channel alone pulls in roughly $537,000 a year.
