Broderick Stephen Harvey, widely known as Steve Harvey, born January 17, 1957, is an American comedian, radio and television host, actor, writer, and producer. He is the host of The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Family Feud, Celebrity Family Feud, Family Feud Africa, and the arbitration-based court comedy Judge Steve Harvey, and he formerly served as host of the Miss Universe pageant. His honors include seven Daytime Emmy Awards, two Marconi Awards, and fourteen NAACP Image Awards.

Before fame

Prior to his breakthrough in comedy, he worked as a salesman, mail carrier, boxer, and carpet cleaner. He performed his first stand-up routine in 1985 and later secured the prominent hosting role on It’s Showtime at the Apollo, which showcased live performances by established and emerging artists and featured the famed Amateur Night competition at Harlem’s Apollo Theater.
