Rand Paul, born Randal Howard Paul, on January 7, 1963, serves as the junior U.S. senator from Kentucky since 2011. A Republican Party member, he currently chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

By profession, he worked as an ophthalmologist and continues to keep an office in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

In January 2014, he launched a class-action lawsuit against the Obama Administration over what he viewed as illegal NSA surveillance.
