Edward Regan Murphy, widely known as Eddie Murphy, born on April 3, 1961, is an iconic American comedian, actor, and singer who exploded from stand-up into movie stardom. He’s snagged a Golden Globe, Grammy, Emmy, Mark Twain Prize (2015), and Cecil B. DeMille Award (2023), plus Oscar and BAFTA nods, and ranks among the all-time comedy greats.
Before fame
Eddie started crafting stand-up routines by 15 and joined Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1984, where he really broke through.

Family life
His dad, Charles Edward Murphy, an amateur comic and actor, passed away when Eddie was young. Brother Charlie became a comedian too. Eddie was married to Nicole Murphy (1993–2006), with whom he has daughter Bella Zahra; he dated Mel B in 2006, welcoming daughter Angel.
Since 2012, he’s been with Paige Butcher. They got engaged in 2018, married in July 2024, and share two kids. He has 10 children total.
