Ashton Dumar Norwill Simmonds professionally known as Daniel Caesar, born on April 5, 1995, is a Canadian singer and songwriter. He built a fanbase with EPs Praise Break (2014) and Pilgrims Paradise (2015), then debuted with Freudian (2017). It earned three Grammy nods, including a win for Best Part with H.E.R. His 2019 album Case Study 01 was longlisted for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize.
Before fame
He sang casually as a kid but only pursued music seriously after finishing high school.
