Gerald William “Jerry” Trainor, an American actor and musician, was born on January 21, 1977. He is well-known for his portrayal as Spencer Shay in the teen comedy iCarly, for which he received three Kids’ Choice Awards. He also reprises the part in the revival series of the same name.

Early life and education
The son of Madelyn Trainor, a former high school calculus teacher, and Bill Trainor, a retired Navy fighter pilot and public defender, Trainor was born and nurtured in San Diego, California. Liz, is the name of his elder sister. He has Irish ancestry.
Trainor went to University of San Diego High School after growing up in the Scripps Ranch neighbourhood of San Diego. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre from the University of California, Santa Barbara. At the Groundlings School in Los Angeles, he pursued improvisational training. He was employed by San Diego SeaWorld prior to becoming an actor.
Parents and family
He is Madeleine Trainor and William Bill Trainor’s son. Jerry also has a sister. He lived with his parents throughout his entire life until he had to move out to attend school in Los Angeles. His parents are not well known, but it is obvious that they had nothing to do with the comedian’s professional life.

Career
Eric was his first on-screen character in the MTV series Undressed. Malcolm in the Middle, Angel, and Law & Order: True Crime are just a few of his previous television appearances. On Crossing Jordan, he played Brian, “the A.V. guy,” in his first recurrent TV role. In films like the cheerleader comedy Bring It On Again and the science fiction drama Donnie Darko, he has played a lot of small roles. He made an appearance in the Hungry Girl web series. From 2004 until 2007, Trainor played “Crazy” Steve, a movie theatre employee, in a recurrent character on Drake & Josh.

He costarred with Miranda Cosgrove in Drake & Josh before playing Spencer Shay, the elder brother and guardian of the show’s lead character, in iCarly from 2007 until 2012. In 2018, Trainor played the lead role in the Todd Berger-written and -directed movie Cover Versions. Sony Pictures purchased the rights to distribute the movie after it made its world premiere at the Palm Springs Film Festival in 2018. It was revealed that iCarly would return in March 2021. Trainor returned to his role as Spencer Shay for the series’ Paramount+ premiere in June of that year.

Music career
Trainor joined forces with guitarist-vocalist Mike O’Gorman, drummer Andrew Zuber, and guitarist Allison Scagliotti to create a band called Nice Enough People in October 2015. Allison Scagliotti also happens to be Trainor’s co-star in Drake & Josh as the role of Mindy Crenshaw. On June 22, 2016, the band issued Hanover Hideaway, its debut EP.
