Guy Penrod (born July 2, 1963) is a lead singer for the rock band Hybrid, as well as an actor, music producer, and gospel musician. After Penrod joined the Bill Gaither Vocal Band in 1994, he rose to fame.

Early life and education
Guy Penrod was born in the United States in Abilene, Texas, and was reared in Hobbs, New Mexico. The artist’s parents are Barbara Grey Penrod, his father, and Reverend Joseph Loren, his mother. His father previously served as the Temple Baptist Church’s pastor. Nothing is currently known about Guy’s siblings.
Before enrolling at Liberty University, Guy graduated from Hobbs High School.

Career
Unlike other gospel performers in the industry, Guy’s musical career is not focused on fame or fortune but rather on service. He rose to fame as a result of his efforts in gospel music. He began his career in the 1980s backing up several artists, including Michael W. Smith.
Through his employment as a studio backup singer, he got to know well-known musicians like Bill Gaither, and he eventually joined the Bill Gaither Vocal Band. He left the Gaither Vocal Band in 2009 to begin his solo career. The same year, the Servant Record label released Breathe Deep, his debut solo album. In 2011, Guy was inducted into the Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Hymns, his second solo album, debuted at No. 1 on the Nielsen SoundScan Southern Gospel retail chart when it was released in 2012. Additionally, the CD was noted as one of the year’s top-selling southern gospel records. He took over as host of the well-liked Daystar Television Network programme Gospel Music Showcase the same year. The programme, which focuses on southern gospel music, airs every Saturday. His seventh solo album, Blessed Assurance, was released in February 2018.
